Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, nidānāni kammānaṃ samudayāya. Katamāni tīṇi? Lobho nidānaṃ kammānaṃ samudayāya, doso nidānaṃ kammānaṃ samudayāya, moho nidānaṃ kammānaṃ samudayāya.

Three things, bhikkhus, are causes of the arising of kamma. Which three? Lobha is a source of the arising of kamma, dosa is a source of the arising of kamma, moha is a source of the arising of kamma.

Yaṃ, bhikkhave, lobha-pakataṃ kammaṃ lobha-jaṃ lobha-nidānaṃ lobha-samudayaṃ, taṃ kammaṃ akusalaṃ taṃ kammaṃ sāvajjaṃ taṃ kammaṃ dukkha-vipākaṃ, taṃ kammaṃ kamma-samudayāya saṃvattati, na taṃ kammaṃ kamma-nirodhāya saṃvattati.

Whatever kamma, bhikkhus, has the nature of lobha, is born of lobha is caused by lobha, arises from lobha, that kamma is akusala, that kamma is blameable, that kamma has dukkha for vipāka, that kamma leads to the arising of kamma, that kamma does not lead to the cessation of kamma.

Yaṃ, bhikkhave, dosa-pakataṃ kammaṃ dosa-jaṃ dosa-nidānaṃ dosa-samudayaṃ, taṃ kammaṃ akusalaṃ taṃ kammaṃ sāvajjaṃ taṃ kammaṃ dukkha-vipākaṃ, taṃ kammaṃ kamma-samudayāya saṃvattati, na taṃ kammaṃ kamma-nirodhāya saṃvattati.

Imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi nidānāni kammānaṃ samudayāya.


These, bhikkhus, are three causes of the arising of kamma.

Imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi nidānāni kammānaṃ samudayāya.

These, bhikkhus, are three causes of the arising of kamma.
