The teaching of the four noble truths, however boring it may seem to the wandering mind, is actually very deep and the mind could spend the whole time investigating it.

‘Idaṃ dukkhaṃ ariyasacca’nti bhikkhave, mayā paññattaṃ; tattha aparimāṇā vaṇṇā aparimāṇā byañjanā aparimāṇā saṅkāsanā: ‘itipidaṃ dukkhaṃ ariyasacca’nti. ‘Idaṃ dukkhasamudayaṃ ariyasacca’nti bhikkhave, mayā paññattaṃ; tattha aparimāṇā vaṇṇā aparimāṇā byañjanā aparimāṇā saṅkāsanā: ‘itipidaṃ dukkhaṃ ariyasacca’nti. ‘Idaṃ dukkhanirodhaṃ ariyasacca’nti bhikkhave, mayā paññattaṃ; tattha aparimāṇā vaṇṇā aparimāṇā byañjanā aparimāṇā saṅkāsanā: ‘itipidaṃ dukkhaṃ ariyasacca’nti. ‘Idaṃ dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā ariyasacca’nti, bhikkhave, mayā paññattaṃ; tattha aparimāṇā vaṇṇā aparimāṇā byañjanā aparimāṇā saṅkāsanā: ‘itipidaṃ dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā ariyasacca’nti.

'This is the noble truth of suffering' has been pointed out by me; in this there are countless aspects, countless particularities, countless meanings: 'This is the noble truth of suffering.' 'This is the noble truth of the cause of suffering' has been pointed out by me; in this there are countless aspects, countless particularities, countless meanings: 'This is the noble truth of the cause of suffering.' 'This is the noble truth of the cessation of suffering' has been pointed out by me; in this there are countless aspects, countless particularities, countless meanings: 'This is the noble truth of the cessation suffering.' 'This is the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering' has been pointed out by me; in this there are countless aspects, countless particularities, countless meanings: 'This is the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering.'

Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, ‘idaṃ dukkha’nti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṃ dukkha·samudayo’ti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṃ dukkha·nirodho’ti yogo karaṇīyo, ‘ayaṃ dukkha·nirodha·gāminī paṭipadā’ti yogo karaṇīyo ti.

Therefore, bhikkhus, you should yoke yourselves to [understanding:] 'This is suffering,' you should yoke yourselves to 'This is the cause of suffering,' you should yoke yourselves to 'This is the cessation of suffering,' you should yoke yourselves to 'This is the path leading to the cessation of suffering'.
